Dickson’s Goodwings is turning over a new leaf with new ownership and a new look!
Elias Michalopoulos and his son-in-law Vasilis Koronis purchased the chicken drive-thru restaurant in February, and plan to continue the Goodwin brothers’ legacy of serving quality chicken tenders, wings and fish to all of Dickson County and beyond.
The new owners moved to Nashville from Houston, Texas and began their search to find an established business to purchase and operate. They discovered Goodwings through a phone call from a listing broker. Finding the idea of owning and operating the restaurant interesting, they drove to Dickson to see what Goodwings had to offer.
“I came right here in the afternoon about this time, about one o’clock,” Michalopoulos said. “We like what we see. We came the same night, the next morning, the next night. We brought my wife, my daughter and my grandson, right here, and my son-in-law. We parked right here. We ordered some food. We liked everything, and we started doing the deal,” he said.
Goodwings was opened in 2005 by brothers Isaac and Zach Goodwin. In 2020, Zach Goodwin died from a car wreck, leaving Isaac as the sole owner of the restaurant and he eventually decided it was time to sell.
Michalopoulos and Koronis have completed a lot of upgrades, necessary renovations and general exterior and interior facelifts to make the business more attractive. They also hired new employees, which the owners admit was a challenge like for most restaurants.
“We have a good staff right now. They care about the place. They’re doing good work, and we still have room for improvement because besides the quality of food, it is the service. We improve the food, we improve the service, and we’re going to get better,” Michalopoulos said.
With Goodwings’ 20 years of success, the new owners plan on keeping the same menu while offering large portions at affordable prices. They also plan on expanding to offer delivery service in the future.
“We’re going to keep exactly the same menu,” Michalopoulos said. “Nothing is going to change. It is a 20-year-old business, right here, serving the community, and we’re going to keep it like that for another 20 years, if possible.”
Goodwings is open from Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 302 Henslee Drive in Dickson. They can be contacted by phone at (615) 446-2928 or by their Facebook account Goodwings-Dickson.
